Trainees hoping to join our Forest Fire Prevention and Logistical Support Brigade completed training in first aid and CPR for use in forest environments. They tackled crisis response from the theory up, covering topics such as biosecurity, the difference between urgency and emergency, first response to the victim, injury prevention and different methods of transferring victims.
One by one, the participants learnt CPR for adults and children, how to execute the Heimlich maneouvre in cases of asphyxiation and choking, and how to put unconscious victims into the recovery position. They also learnt how to use a defibrilator to reestablish cardiac rhythm for people who have suffered a heart attack.
Following the training each of the nine applicants succesfully passed an assessment, earning their international certification in CPR and defibrilator use.
The course, run by Adrián Curruhinca, instructor and director of Triada Vital Capacitaciones, ran for five hours and took place in the Rotary Club in San Martín de Los Andes, always available to offer its facilities for the Fundación’s training exercises.
